Boylesque
Boylesque or Boylesk is Burlesque by men. Sometimes it is also called Sirlesque and Manlesque. Recently also Draglesque (by Drag Queens) is becoming more and more popular.
It’s stripping with a story, it’s theatrical striptease and/or staged satirical sketches performed by men. The evolution of “California Dream Men” performers or the guys from the movie “The Mike”.
Boylesque is an extension and expansion of the burlesque scene, allowing ‘boys’ to explore erotic and exotic theatricality in a way once considered only for women.
Burlesque, after all, was originally a form of comedy, so the best boylesque acts are those that are clever enough to make audiences laugh out loud.
Often boylesquers are great dancers (ballet, tango, salsa, etc), so they know hot to move on stage. Or they have studied circus art, singing and drama.
As much as in Burlesque acts, Boylesque acts involve a great amount of work in terms of setting theme, music, costumes, choreography, all elements which are made unique by passionate work and creativity.
