Nerdlesque or Nerd Burlesque falls within New Burlesque performances and in particular it combines burlesque with all things nerdy and geeky. It is also related to the world of comics.
In Nerdlesque performers dress up in cosplay as a certain character in TV, film, literature, anime or other types of media.
A nerdlesque act may be inspired by Harry Potter, Marvel heroes, Disney characters, Star Wars, Doctor Who, etc. In it you find classic and new burlesque features and routines, merged with a parody of pop culture.
It can be a great introduction into the larger burlesque scene for many audience members who might not feel comfortable going to a traditional burlesque show at first.
