Seduce with a stocking peel
Stocking peel is one of the sexiest parts of a burlesque performance.
They can either be holdups, or most likely stockings with garter belt. One can choose a very simple model of garter belt/suspenders, or a more refined model, with lace, satin, fringes and other decorations, making it an important part of the costume. Garters can also be attached to an old-style culotte or to a guêpière or even to a corset or underbust corset.
Stockings can be of any colour (usually black or nude, but also white, blue, red or whatever, to match the outfit), sheer or opaque, seamed, fishnet or seamed fishnet, with a simple or decorated band (where the garters are fixed).
Just like for boas and gloves, there are different techniques for removing stockings: sitting on a chair, standing up, lying or sitting on the ground. During classes, these seem the most difficult routines but, once students have learned the methods, they end up with loving it!
Adding the stocking peel to a performance is not a must, but it gives it a very sensual touch. And it helps the audience in finding out if they are assisting to a real burlesque show or just to an it’s-supposed-to-be-burlesque-but-I-don’t-know-what-it-is-really-about show.
As I wrote in one of my previous posts, please keep in mind that it’s not burlesque if some features are missing, such as boa, gloves and … sometimes stockings.
